Savor the good life in the Dordogne River Valley, one of France's best-kept travel secrets. From the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda, enjoy the region's numerous attractions, including the prehistoric caves of Lascaux II and Rouffignac. Follow in the footsteps of Richard the Lionheart at Beynac Castle; stroll the medieval lanes of Domme; and sample Perigord's world-renowned foie gras and truffles. This Village Life program will be enhanced with exclusive lectures, special meals, and a discussion with a local resident to gain perspective about life in provincial France. Accomodations will be in the hundred-year-old Hotel de la Madeleine in Sarlat, where your host - a highly regarded chef and former mayor - will provide insight into the region's exquisite medieval architecture and introduce you to its renowned cuisine.
