Warfare: From the Peloponnesian War to the Present Jun 8, 2008 - Jun 20, 2008

For more than ten years, Donald Kagan, Sterling Professor of Classics and History, has designed itineraries that amount to exciting and thoughtful “traveling seminars” on the ancient world. This year’s voyage is no exception. Prof. Kagan, the author of the definitive history of the Peloponnesian War, will lecture on the history of Western warfare as Corinthian II cruises from Naples to Sicily (the crucible of that Thucydidean conflict) and on to destinations from Pylos to Samothraki, associated with the Trojan War, as well as the poignant World War I memorials at Gallipoli. Accompanying him on this trip will be his son, Frederick Kagan, an expert in defense issues and the American military; the Kagans will collaborate for lectures on modern-day warfare.
