Dear Classmates and Friends,
Please join us for the Class of 1972’s 45th reunion June 1 - 4, 2017 at Pierson College. The reunion committee has been hard at work for several months now putting together a program designed not only to inform and entertain us, but to address issues of specific interest to people who have been through our shared experiences at Yale (starting in the late ’60s) and who now face all the challenges of life in our 60s. Please see the reunion class schedule for detailed descriptions of our class programming.
Please register now for the reunion, but there are a few other matters that require your attention, too:
Registration: If you would like to attend the reunion, please click the "Register Now!" button to the left. Additionally, the Class of 1972 is extending a complimentary reunion to the surviving spouses of our departed classmates; so, if you are a surviving spouse, we hope you will be our guest and attend!
On Campus Housing and Hotels: There will be on campus housing available in both Pierson College and Baker Hall (formerly the New Residence Hall). Baker Hall is located on Tower Parkway near Payne Whitney Gym and offers alumni a campus housing option with air conditioning and elevators as well as en-suite bathrooms. While the downtown reunion hotel blocks are currently full, there are a number of hotels outside of downtown New Haven that can accommodate you. There are rooms available at La Quinta Inn and Suites New Haven (203) 562-1111 located on Long Wharf. (Note that this hotel will be serviced by the reunion shuttle.) Please go to visitorcenter.yale.edu/lodging for additional New Haven area hotels. Additionally, downtown hotel rooms do become available from time to time, especially in the spring.
Financial Assistance: We really want you to come to our reunion; so, as we’ve done before, there is financial assistance for those who can’t afford the full expense of attending. If you can get yourself to New Haven, we’ll help pay for your reunion registration and on-campus housing. Contact Stacey O’Donnell, our AYA liaison, at email@example.com or (203) 736-7831. Your conversation and the details of any assistance provided will be completely confidential. Please don’t be shy - we want you at the reunion.
Reunion Survey: We’ve sent out a survey to classmates about a variety of topics that will help us take stock of our collective experience as members of the class and as sexagenarians. The results will be presented at a panel at the reunion. If you haven’t already done so, please go to www.surveymonkey.com/r/yale72 and complete the survey. The survey will be closing on Monday, April 10.
Digital Reunion Book: We're creating a reunion book for this year’s reunion containing the latest information about classmates, news, thoughts, memories, photos, and so on. Unlike books created for our previous reunions, however, this one is being put together digitally. It will be available on line and will cost classmates nothing. (For those who prefer hard copies, printed books will also be available for purchase.) We’re asking every classmate—including those who can’t attend the reunion—to fill out their page in the book. The deadline is April 10th. We’ve sent you a link that takes you to a site that will guide you through the process of submitting information and photos. If you haven’t received the link - or don’t receive emails from Yale please contact AYA's Jessica Wright at Jessica.Wright@yale.edu.
The reunion website at http://aya.yale.edu/reunions provides more information about the reunion, including the preliminary programming schedule. Please encourage all your class friends to attend, especially any that haven’t attended in the past. People always report that they have a great time reconnecting with classmates and visiting Yale and New Haven at our reunions.
We look forward to seeing you in New Haven!
