Assembly LIX

The Tercentennial of Yale University
Thursday, October 4  through Friday, October 5, 2001

Held in conjunction with the final Tercentennial celebration, the Fall 2001 Assembly was devoted to examining the future and new frontiers of Yale’s relationship with her alumni. Following the shortened Assembly program, AYA delegates joined students, faculty, and staff who turned out in droves for the three days of events marking the end of Yale's 300th birthday celebration. This included a convocation on Cross Campus; a symposium titled "Democratic Vistas, Global Perspectives," with special presentations by many of the faculty who highlighted the Tercentennial DeVane Lectures series; the “Yale 300 Festival” at the Yale Bowl; and a Tercentennial show, with appearances by some of the alumni from the "300 Years of Creativity and Discovery" weekend in April, as well as a performance by singer and composer Paul Simon.
