Yale Career Fireside Chat - The Art of Networking

Thursday, November 9, 2017

This event is the third in a new series of fireside chats covering career-related issues. Unlike the “Yale Career Panels: A Candid View of Professions” series that focuses on specific professions, this series is comprised of one hour conversations with one or two individuals about career related topics. The first fireside chat was held in December and covered “Managing Major Career Changes” and the second was in April and covered “Serving on Boards."

There is no question that networking is a crucial tool for success across a broad set of careers. Our panelists will talk about how networking made a difference in their careers and helped them accomplish important tasks in their profession and personally. They will also talk about the different types of networking and how different methods are effective or not effective in achieving various goals. In addition, since networking depends a great deal on each person’s personality and skills, they will talk about different networking techniques and how one chooses the ones that fit your own skills and objectives.

The fireside chat will be broadcast via an interactive streaming video system. It will last for 45 minutes and will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

Time: Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm EST
