Apollo Theater Exhibit Tour & Meet and Greet

Apollo Theater Exhibit Tour & Meet and Greet
Sat, 06/19/2010 - 9:00am - 1:00pm

Join the Yale Black Alumni Association in DC for a trip to the Smithsonian Museum of American History to view the exhibition Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing:  How the Apollo Theater Shaped American Entertainment.  At 1 pm we will join a docent guided tour designed to encourage dialogue about the objects displayed and concepts presented in the exhibition.  The exhibition draws on wide-ranging materials including historic photographs, costumes, musical scores, instruments and playbills, and traces the evolution of the Apollo – from its birth in 1914 as a whites-only burlesque theater to its years as a premier entertainment venue and a magnet for audiences from around the world.  More information on the exhibition can be found at:  http://nmaahc.si.edu/section/programs/view/43

Meet and Greet
At 2:30 pm we will reconvene at Elephant and Castle Pub at 1201 Pennsylvania Ave. NW to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.  Grab a drink, enjoy the casual atmosphere and opportunity to network and socialize.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Restaurant website:  http://www.elephantcastle.com/content/locations/dc_penn
