AYA "Burns Supper" at Mory's
Sat, 01/17/2015 - 6:00pm

The Third Annual Burns Supper
is coming to Mory's on January 17, 2015

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the pudding-race!
Robert Burns: Address to a Haggis, (1786)

Nice seeing your honest, chubby face,
Great chieftain of the sausage race!

If everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, then it must follow that all are Scot when Rabbie Burns is remembered at a traditional Burns Supper

Therefore:  The Association of Yale Alumni cordially invites you (Yale Alumni, Faculty, Staff,  and Students) and your guests to the Third Annual AYA Burns Supper to be celebrated on Saturday 17 January 2015, from 6 – 9 pm at Mory's, 306 York St., New Haven.

Mory's Executive Chef Jeff Caputo has crafted a traditional Burns Supper menu complete with Scotch eggs, smoked salmon, cock-a-leekie soup, haggis, neeps and tatties, soda bread, and tipsy laird trifle.  Wine, beer and liberal lashings of  “the creature” (AKA Scotch Whisky) will be poured.  The price for the evening is $95 per person and includes food (including seconds!) and unlimited beer, wine, The Macallan 10 Year Old, and tax and tip.  This is an exceptional value for a night that will be long remembered.

Over 50 guests enjoyed last year's Burns Supper, join in the fun by registering HERE.

Special Notes:

  • All guests are encouraged to wear traditional Scots garments...Gentlemen, you know about which I speak!
  • Dinner guests are most cordially invited to enter into the spirit of the evening by reading a poem by Burns, singing one of his songs, or presenting some other Scots-themed offering.  If you would like to participate in the program, be in touch with Johnson Flucker ’80 at johnson.flucker@yale.edu.
  • Seating for the evening will be booth and "club style" (long tables).  You will be seated with members of your registering party, but may be joined by single or couple registrants--what better way to get to know like-minded members of the Yale Alumni family?
  • A vegetarian option is available, contact Johnson once you have registered.
  • Children are most welcome, see the registration form for details.

As the Scots say: Slàinte mhòr! (Great Health to you!)
