Class of 1951 Atlanta Mini Reunion Save the Date
Wed, 04/18/2012 - 4:30pm - Sun, 04/22/2012 - 1:30pm

Dear Classmate and Friends of 1951,

At Reunion in June we voted enthusiastically for another “mini” in Atlanta.  The dates are:  April 18 - April 22, 2012.  Planning is in its final stages and we anticipate that the fee will be $700 per person. Atlanta is easy to get to, it is a spectacular city with an enormous array of cultural, historical, artistic, corporate and educational attractions. Our schedule will feature the kind of insider’s view of the city and its unique offerings that have typified our previous 18 mini-reunions.

Although the program is still a work in progress it will feature distinguished speakers representing the city and its various institutions, and such civic highlights as the Center for Disease Control, the High Museum of Art (featuring “Picasso to Warhol: Twelve Modern Masters” in collaboration with MoMA), the Atlanta History Center’s world class collection of Civil War artifacts, the World of  Coca Cola Museum, the Ebenezer Baptist Church (the parish of 3 generations of Martin Luther Kings) and Atlanta’s famous Botanical Gardens, where we will have our Class Dinner.  We’ll do our best not to over-schedule you.

We will be staying at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta-Buckhead, 3300 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30305.  Buckhead is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Atlanta, and the World of Coca Cola Museum, the Aquarium, the High Museum, the Atlanta History Center and convenient restaurants and stores are nearby.

I urge you to make your reservations as soon as you receive this letter.  Call Hyatt Reservations at 888-421-1442.  Be sure to identify yourself as part of the “Yale Alumni Reunion Class of 1951” group in order to get our special room rate of $165 (plus taxes). The week of our visit happens to be at the height of the azalea season and hotel availability can be very tight.

So here’s what I ask you to do. First, please complete and send in the enclosed form even if you are unable to come. We need this information no later than December 1st.  Second, if you are planning to attend, make your hotel reservation now. Third, in January, 2012 if you’re “definitely” or “probably” going to be with us in Atlanta, you will receive final details and registration information. A preliminary poll indicates an over the top 1951 turn-out.
