The eleventh Yale Class of 1957 trip to international destinations will head for Egypt, October 19 - Novermber 4, 2010. This 17 day luxury tour will visit the highlights of the country including Cairo and its pyramids, the Sphinx and the world famous Egyptian Museum, Luxor, home of the many royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens and the spectacular Karnak and Luxor Temples, Aswan and its new High Dam and ancient Philae Temple, Abu Simbel, site of the two relocated Nubian temples and four towering statues originally carved 200 feet down the mountainside during the reign of Ramses II, Sharm El Sheikh, the well known resort on the Red Sea for some R&R, and Alexandria with its extraordinary new library built in 2002. The tour will include a two day/three night luxury cruise on the Nile River from Luxor to Aswan with stops in Edfu to explore the Temple of Horus, and Kom Ombo to discover Egypt’s only double temple. There will also be an optional day trip from Sharm El Sheikh to the spectacular 3rd century St. Catherine’s Monastery in the middle of the Sinai Peninsula. The Tour Operator for this trip is Gate 1 Travel, a 29 year old company that operates worldwide.


The Cost:
Land Only (including Intra-Egypt air): $5,837 per-person, double occupancy.
Land and International Round Trip Economy Class Air: $6,637 from JFK not including airport fees and taxes, currently estimated at $150.
Single person room supplement: (limited availability) $1,771.
Optional day trip to St. Catherine’s Monastery: $136 per person (including tips).
Visa to enter Egypt: $20 to be paid on arrival at the Cairo airport.

The Hotels & Cruise Ship: All luxury class except one hotel that is a four star.
