* Bonus!  A Social Enterprise Showdown featuring rapid-fire presentations from 5 social entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to problems faced by New York City. Each aspiring Social Entrepreneur will be given Q&A time for their proposals, benefiting from constructive interactions with both the competition judges and conference participants.

To participate in the Showdown, aspiring Social Entrepreneurs must register their intent to compete by Friday, March 7, by submitting a one-page overview to, providing: 

  • Name and Contact Information
  • Concept of the Social Enterprise and Social Problem to be Addressed 

YANA is particularly interested in proposals that address significant social issues in New York City, focusing on areas related to poverty, education, health, housing, energy, hunger, city planning, and social justice. A conference call will be held during the week of 3/10 to cover all questions related to the application process and the competition. The deadline for the comprehensive application is on Friday, 3/24. A panel of judges will review the submissions and select 5 finalists for the Conference Showdown. Showdown invitations will be sent out on 4/1. 

YANA Social EnterPRIZE: Following the conference, a panel of judges will select two winners (to be named by 4/30).  The winning Social Entrepreneurs will receive assistance from YANA members to attract the funding necessary to launch their enterprises.
