TOUR BEGINS: Wing Shoon Restaurant -165 East Broadway (@ Essex/Rutgers St ("F" Train "East Broadway Station")

  • Assemble @ 12:30 p.m.sharp!
  • Note: Arrive @ 11:30am to join us for a no-host Dim Sum lunch at this historic spot!

TOUR ENDS: Museum of Chinese In America (MoCA) (215 Centre Street, a block north of Canal Street)

  • Tour ends @ 2:15 p.m.
  •  Note: Lobby of MoCA   Highlights of the Museum Tour is @ 2:30 p.m. (free w/ Museum Admission)
  • Optional: Visit MoCA - Student tickets ($5); General Admission tickets ($10) 

Basic Tour Information:

  • What to wear and bring? Hat, sunscreen, good walking shoes, thermos or bottled water
  • Who to invite? other interns, co-workers, friends, AAAYA members
  • What info will be shared? Chinatown and the Lower East Side are 2 of NYC's oldest and most vibrant immigrant communities, facing tremendous pressure from the incredible forces of development seizing Manhattan ...you'll get a grass-roots view of what's happening, and some tidbits about how these communities are empowering themselves to fight to save their communities.
