The twin 10-meter Keck Telescopes, with their groundbreaking segmented-mirror technology, revolutionized optical and infrared astronomy and have become the most scientifically productive telescopes in the world. Yale Science & Engineering Association awardee Gary Chanan ’70 will discuss the development of the Keck telescopes, his collaboration with Jerry Nelson, the father of the Kecks, and a projected vision of future segmented telescopes.
