Transformational Leadership in a Turbulent Time is a five-part Sunday evening series featuring extraordinary leaders in church and society, reflecting on the challenge and opportunities of leadership in this unprecedented time. In each of the first four weeks, YDS students will interview these leaders (all of whom also have deep YDS connections), drawing from their wisdom and vision an understanding of how they are offering leadership during this time of global pandemic, racial justice reckoning, and economic and climate turmoil.

On Sunday, October 25, at 6:30 p.m., our guest will be Ashley Makar '13 M.Div., interviewed by Monica Largess '22 M.Div. Ms. Makar is the Community Liaison for IRIS, the Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services agency in New Haven, working to help refugees and displaced people establish new lives in Connecticut. This work has been particularly challenging at a time when the government has prohibited refugees from entering the country, and when economically disadvantaged people have been particularly vulnerable to COVID.
