Since 2018, YPEI has offered credited Yale courses to incarcerated students in Connecticut state prisons. YPEI course offerings, which are drawn from existing Yale College classes, recreate the rigor and diversity of liberal arts classes available to on-campus Yale undergraduates. Through Campus partnerships, YPEI also connects incarcerated students to Yale resources to ensure their academic success and likewise fosters relationships with community partners to support students returning home from prison. YPEI advocates for these causes on- and off-campus and brings together Yale and the broader New Haven community around these issues. This event is part of the GLC@lunch online lecture series. false

Register on Eventbrite: http://bit.ly/one-year-vigil Late March marks one year since the first person in prison was known to die from COVID-19 on March 26, 2020. Since then, more than 2,700 people have been confirmed to lose their lives to the virus while living or working in jails, prisons, or detention centers in the U.S., and thousands more have perished from other causes in the unhealthy conditions of detention. To mark a year of loss, on Saturday, March 27 we will hear from directly-impacted people who lost loved ones behind bars and honor the names of those who have died. The vigil will feature Cassandra Greer-Lee, Chanthon Bun, Page Dukes, Xavier Washington, Michelle Alexander, and others. This event is hosted by Mourning Our Losses (https://www.mourningourlosses.org/) and co-hosted by the Southern Center for Human Rights, the Texas After Violence Project, the UCLA COVID-19 Behind Bars Data Project, the Yale Undergraduate Prison Project, and the SEICHE Center for Health and Justice. Details for viewing will be provided at a later date. false
