Yale Day of Service: GA, Atlanta - Atlanta Community Food Bank
Spend a morning helping to combat food insecurity in the Atlanta area by volunteering at the Atlanta Community Food Bank! Volunteers at the Hunger Action Center play a vital role in ensuring food is efficiently sourced and distributed to community food centers and partners. Their tasks include:
1. Sorting and Inspecting Donations: Volunteers sort through donated food items, checking for quality and ensuring everything is suitable for distribution.
2. Packing Food Boxes: Volunteers assemble boxes with balanced selections of food for delivery to partner sites.
3. Inventory Management: Volunteers help track and organize incoming and outgoing food supplies, ensuring accurate and smooth distribution.
4. Maintaining a Clean Environment: Volunteers help keep the center organized, sanitized, and safe for ongoing operations.
By supporting these efforts, volunteers help ensure that food reaches the people and communities who need it most.
Maximum participants: 30 (but may try to expand if response is robust). Children 8 years and above can also participate!
