Join us for a hands-on volunteer day with the Billion Oyster Project! Help restore NYC’s harbor by cleaning shell substrate, fabricating reef balls, or maintaining the shell pile for the busy season ahead. Shell cleaning involves washing, shaking, and loading shells that will later be seeded with juvenile oysters. Reef ball fabrication includes mixing eco-concrete and filling molds to create new reef structures. You may also assist with shell pile maintenance by clearing debris and organizing materials and equipment. Every task is crucial to the project’s success, and you'll be making a direct impact on the restoration of the harbor's oyster population while getting a little messy in the process! 18+ event, or 16+ with parent or guardian Here is the LINK to the safety waiver / liability form. Add to Calendar 2026-05-17T00:00:00 2026-05-17T00:00:00 America/New_York Yale Day of Service: NY, New York - Baby Boutique Preparation at Nido de Esperanza Nido de Esperanza is a nonprofit organization based in Washington Heights that supports families with babies from pregnancy through age three. Our mission is to create a strong foundation during the first 1,000 days of life by providing social work support and essential material goods, helping families navigate challenges and build long-term stability. We work closely with families through group and one-on-one programming, and operate a Distribution Center that provides essential baby items. Each season, we prepare and distribute curated “Baby Boutique” bundles for nearly 200 families, which requires significant preparation behind the scenes. During the Yale Day of Service, volunteers will support this work by helping us prepare for our upcoming Summer Baby Boutique (June 9). Activities will focus on organizing, sorting, and bundling donations to ensure items are ready for distribution, directly supporting our ability to serve families with care and efficiency. Children ages 10 and up are welcome to participate and must be registered in advance. Nido De Esperanza (Distribution Center) — 4111 Broadway true
