Volunteers will meet at 11:30 am to serve lunch to the clients, cafeteria style (dishing out portions from bins onto plates. Afterwards, will have an informal lunch together there (the cook normally makes fresh food for the volunteers to share). Following lunch, volunteers will set-up the food pantry (moving tables and chairs, loading boxes of produce and frozen foods onto tables) and then take turns accompanying one client each through the pantry to help them shop (as needed: reach items for them, read labels and explain how much of each item the signage allows the clients to take that day, etc.). Following that, volunteers will help clean-up (sweep, move tables back to the dining arrangement, clear and clean large trays of food). Light lifting is involved. It's advised for volunteers to wear clothes appropriate for messy physical work and to also bring a hat (and work gloves or rubber gloves if preferred). On May 9 we will work in Glover Archbold park in Glover Park, just north of Georgetown. A hillside trail there is supported by cribbing on the downhill side, and we will repair or replace some of that cribbing. With enough volunteers we may perform other tasks as well, such as improving the trail bed. The work starts with a group gathering at 8:15 and finishes by noon. Volunteers will need a car for transportation. Glover Archbold Park — 44th St NW & Reservoir Rd NW true
