Biography
Alexis Mburu is an ex-officio member of the YAA Board of Governors in her capacity as secretary of Yale College's current senior class. She is a member of Pierson College studying Biological Anthropology, and her thesis interests lie at the intersection of sport, athletes and reproductive ecology. After graduating, she plans on taking a gap year in the U.K. before attending law school.
During her time at Yale, Mburu has been deeply involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities. She plays on the Yale Women’s Rugby team; her performance on the pitch has earned her the opportunity to play rugby in New Zealand while pursuing research on how sport functions as a social good within communities. She is also a member of the Yale Glee Club and the senior a cappella group Whim ’n Rhythm. In her junior year she served as director of Yale’s oldest sketch comedy group, The Fifth Humour.
Since being elected 2027 Class Secretary, Mburu has been enthusiastic to serve her class and the broader Yale community as an ex-officio member of the Board of Governors. She looks forward to a dedicated and vibrant time in her role, where she plans to ensure that the magic of Yale continues far into her years as an alum.
