From August 7 to 13, 2026, sail from Reykjavík through one of nature’s rarest spectacles aboard Evrima, a Ritz-Carlton yacht designed for Arctic exploration and sophisticated comfort.

On August 12, 2026, the Moon’s shadow will cross Iceland’s coast, bringing two minutes of totality to viewers positioned along the shore. Witness this celestial phenomenon from the deck of Evrima, where the solar corona appears against the Arctic sky at 5:48 p.m. local time. The sun will hang 24 degrees above the western horizon, offering clear sight lines for observation and photography.

Before the eclipse, explore Iceland’s geological wonders. Learn why this island nation is called “the Land of Fire and Ice” with guided visits to erupting geysers, thundering waterfalls, and volcanic formations.

Join your fellow Yalies to hike our namesake 14er on Saturday, August 8, 2026!

2026 is a special year - the 250th birthday of the United States, the 150th birthday of Colorado, and, most importantly, the 325th birthday of Yale College. We will celebrate by climbing Mount Yale this summer.

The hike leader will be CYA President Dave Belin ‘92, 14er Finisher who has hiked Mount Yale 4 times. We will plan to meet at the Denny Creek trailhead at 5:15am on August 8th. 

Participants should be in reasonably good hiking shape, but Mount Yale is a friendly peak for first timer 14er hikers. The route is 9.5 miles round trip (out and back) and 4,200 feet of elevation gain. It is rated a class 2, which means, for the last 200 vertical feet of the hike, there is no longer a formal trail; you might need to put your hands down once or twice for balance. No specialized climbing gear is required and there is no major exposure for those intimidated by heights. 

Choices for lodging the night prior are to camp at the Collegiate Peaks campground, stay at a hotel in Buena Vista, or even drive up that morning from the Front Range. 

Post-hike, we will plan to meet in Buena Vista for a celebratory beverage and snack before heading home.

It is an excellent opportunity for matriculating students to prepare for the Yale experience, for current students to provide the inside scoop on how to navigate moving in, and for alumni to gather. Matriculating students may bring parents and siblings, significant others may join the fun, and current students are particularly welcomed!

Celebrate summer and connect with your Yale community at the annual Colorado Yale Association summer picnic on Sunday, August 9, 2026. This is a wonderful annual event that we hope you will attend to meet and network with fellow alums, incoming students, and family members.

CYA has reserved the large shelter for our picnic and will provide sandwiches, side dishes, dessert, and cold drinks.

Alumni, partners, children, current students, and parents warmly welcomed. Ample parking is available at the park entrance. (Dogs are not permitted in the park.)

For those who want to explore the award-winning Splash Park, bring your bathing suits and a sense of adventure!

Join fellow Yale alumni, family, and friends for a summer morning exploring Salem's historic waterfront, followed by an optional gathering at Maitland Farm, Kitchen & Spirits.

Led by Michael Cusick BK '76, a Salem resident, writer, and amateur historian, this guided walking tour will highlight Salem's rich maritime heritage through a mix of celebrated landmarks and hidden corners. Stops include the Custom House, Pequot Mills, Derby Wharf and Lighthouse, the House of the Seven Gables, and the Collins Cove Sculpture Park.

Please arrive at 10:00am. The tour will depart promptly at 10:15am from the Salem Wharf ticket booth (10 Blaney Street) and conclude at 11:30am.

Following the tour, attendees are invited to continue the conversation at Maitland Farm, Kitchen & Spirits. Known for its seasonal small plates, house-made pickles, and craft cocktails, Maitland provides a relaxed setting for fellowship and conversation. Attendees will be responsible for their own food and beverage purchases.

Children ages 8 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Pets, other than service animals, are not permitted.

Parking is available at the Ferry Wharf and Derby Street garages. Salem Wharf is also accessible via the Salem Ferry from Boston's Long Wharf and via the MBTA Commuter Rail's Newburyport/Rockport Line to Salem Station.

The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, participants will be notified of any cancellation by 7:30am on the day of the event.
