Biography
John Perez’s professional journey has been shaped by a belief in servant leadership and the transformative power of education. As a first-generation college graduate and former military officer, he learned early the importance of integrity, perseverance and community ‐ values that continue to guide his work. His experience earning an MBA at the School of Management was formative and affirming, as Yale challenged him to think differently about leadership, ethics and institutional responsibility.
Professionally, Perez serves as a Senior Director in Health Care Compliance at Johnson & Johnson. Over nearly 15 years at J&J, he has also held leadership roles across numerous functional domains, including Government Affairs & Policy, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Acquisitions & Divestitures, as well as founding and leading the company’s Office of Military & Veterans Affairs. Before entering the private sector, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve, deploying twice to Iraq. His educational journey also includes an Executive Master of Policy Leadership degree from Georgetown University and completing his undergraduate studies at Seton Hall University.
Perez remains deeply committed to service through his involvement with Yale, having served as a board member and leader of the Yale Veterans Association and completing two terms as a YAA At-Large Delegate and one term as a YAA Delegate from the Yale Veterans Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the nonprofit Warrior-Scholar Project, supporting veterans pursuing higher education, and is actively involved a number of other professional organizations.
