Macbeth is Verdi’s thrilling take on the immortal Shakespearean tale of the scheming couple determined to seize power at any cost. This production stars two of opera’s most extraordinary artists: Quinn Kelsey is the Scottish king haunted by the ghosts of his murderous ascent to the throne, and Lise Davidsen—the world’s reigning dramatic soprano—portrays the power-mad Lady Macbeth, whose ruinous ambition damns them both. Rounding out the all-star cast are tenor Freddie De Tommaso as the heroic Macduff and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Macbeth’s friend-turned-victim Banquo, all conducted by Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. October Book Club Meeting! Come for a fun discussion of a Yale-affiliated book - Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden.

Do you love reading, friendship, and fun? Come for an exciting discussion of a Yale-affiliated book with fellow fabulous Yale Women! Potluck lunch hosted by one of our members.

For October, we'll be reading Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden (husband antagonist character attended Yale Law). #1 New York Times Bestseller. Netflix adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow in progress. A cautionary tale of the financial risks in marriage for women. Burden was born into a prominent and wealthy family. She was a lawyer, but she sidelined her career to support her husband and the demands of his job at a New York hedge fund, and to care for their children. They lived a lavish lifestyle for twenty years. Then, with no warning or explanation, her husband announced that he was leaving her. Overnight, her caring, steady partner became a man she hardly recognized. She was left with no income, and an ill-advised change to their prenuptial agreement in the days before her wedding left her with no claim to the wealth they had amassed during marriage.

Deshna Charron Zoom | November 11 | 12 – 1:30 pm Eastern Around the world, communities are facing major social and systemic change. Signs of societal and environmental collapse are evident. Our attempts to live “independently,” create the experience of separation that leads to suffering, division and destruction, all of which runs counter to the sacred teachings present in all the World Religions, Earth-centered expressions and the teachings of Jesus. Nourishing children spiritually and equipping them with the skills they need to not just survive but thrive within this chaotic and stressful environment can ground, prepare, and inspire the next generation. We do this by providing spiritual practices, self-awareness exercises, and organizing tools so that youth and their communities may rise up resiliently, modeling a healthy, and whole way forward for all.
