Biography

At Yale, Ben Diamond was a member of the a cappella group Baker’s Dozen. He will never forget his first performance as a freshman with the group at an alumni concert, which concluded hundreds of alums in the audience joyfully singing Now, reflecting on his own bright college years 25 years later, Diamond says he appreciates more than ever what a special experience it was to be a part of Yale. “It’s not just that the friendships we formed at Yale are so strong,” he says, but that “we recognize how Yale has prepared us to pursue our passions and make a difference.”

Diamond’s passion is public service. After graduating from Yale, he moved back to his home state of Florida, where he has pursued a successful career in law and public service. He most recently served for six years as an elected member of the Florida House of Representatives, where he was recognized by his peers as a consensus builder and a leader, devoted to his work and serving his constituents. For the past 15 years he has also held a variety of Yale leadership roles, including as rresident of the Yale Club of Tampa Bay, Alumni Schools Committee Director, YAA Delegate and 25th Reunion Co-Chair for the Class of 2000.

Diamond seeks to build stronger connections between Yale alumni and the university, which – given the unprecedent challenges facing higher education — he believes is now more important than ever. He is honored to continue his service to Yale as a member of the YAA Board of Governors.
