The Leadership Forum (now in its 10th year) will give you insights on individual leadership and team-building. Past discussion leaders have included: innovators, Rhodes and Marshall Scholars, an executive of the World Bank, a member of the military, Yale Medal winners, movers-and-shakers in financial services, not-for-profit and healthcare leaders, trial lawyers, and many more.

Led by Yalies with life-coaching, religious, sports, entertainment, and corporate finance leadership experience, your Leadership Forum kicks off with an afternoon and an evening discussion on Friday, February 25. Then we continue with an afternoon and an evening discussion on Friday, March 4. Each of your four sessions will be led by a different Yale alum.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Your Leadership Forum will be alumni-led
  • You'll interact with Yale alums conveying real-life leadership wisdom from far beyond campus
  • Everything is interactive; we’ll interactively grapple with tough leadership challenges
  • We've set aside time for Q&A and discussion
  • We'll later arrange a post-Forum dialogue on your views ... and share them with the rest of Yale

OrLando Yarborough III ’06 MPhil, ’10 PhD

OrLando Yarborough III ’06 MPhil, ’10 PhD

OrLando earned his PhD in genetics from Yale, investigating the genetics of high blood pressure. He completed his Yale postdoc in internal medicine, investigating mitochondrial metabolism in Type 2 Diabetes. Today, OrLando coaches, speaks, and trains internationally on leadership with The John Maxwell Team. In 2013, he was one of 150 coaches who, in only three days, trained more than 20,000 Guatemalan leaders who had themselves embarked to train 120,000 of their own leaders in a national transformation effort. In 2014, OrLando and his wife, Rashele Yarborough ’10 MPhil, ’12 MD, ’12 PhD, returned to Guatemala – as part of a completely separate initiative – to work on hospital infrastructure in a most remote region of the country.

OrLando co-led the Yale School of Management Christian Fellowship in 2004 and 2005. His strength and passion reside in creating environments for high growth and achievement. His research interests include genetic and environmental impact on health and disease, and the role of leadership skills in creating success and positive change.

OrLando and Rashele, with their daughter, belong to Church On The Rock, New Haven where they have been co-leaders of the young adult ministry since 2004. He was ordained in 2015.
