The most recent milestone is the SEC’s approval of Bitcoin ETFs. But digital finance is much more than Bitcoin. Douglas moved into digital finance after a successful career in foreign exchange trading. He took an early view on how digital finance would evolve. We will discuss his experience in “TradFi” and “DeFi”.

Douglas Borthwick ’96 MPPM

Douglas is currently the CEO of Blu Canary Capital, a unique business that purchases companies in the immersive digital space with digital securities. Douglas has over 28 years of experience in the finance industry, most recently serving as the Chief Marketing Officer for INX Limited during their groundbreaking, first ever IPO of a registered security on the blockchain, and then as the Chief Business Officer for The INX Digital Company, the only combined securities and cryptocurrency trading platform open 24/7/365. In addition, he founded the Chapdelaine FX electronic and voice trading business for inter-dealer broker TP-ICAP. Douglas held various leadership roles with Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Standard Chartered Bank; managing derivatives trading groups in New York and London, with a strong focus on emerging markets.
