Careers, Life, and Yale Thursday Show: Yale Engineers … to Infinity and Beyond!

Isaiah works as a product manager at Desmos, where he guides development of online math education tools. Before that, he spent three years in engineering at Ford Motor Company, where he designed and managed high voltage parts for hybrid and electric vehicles, led a company-wide innovation coaching program and incubator for new employees, and received the Ford Next Generation Resource Group's Most Promising Leader Award. He spends much of his free time writing and was a 2021 fellow of the DreamYard Poetry Consortium. The rest of his time is spent thinking about art, running around his Philadelphia neighborhood, and eating chocolate.

Jennie is a Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Physics alum. Her undergraduate interest in materials science and statics led her to the vast world of engineering industry, starting off as a mechanical engineer working on turbine engine component manufacturing at Arconic. She is current a manager of the Mechanical Integration & Test group at Northrop Grumman in the Tactical Space Systems division, overseeing state-of-the-art geosynchronous satellites and low earth orbit commercial spacecraft from initial assembly and integration through launch. She finds it extremely rewarding to be doing hands-on work with flight hardware alongside an exceptional and collaborative integration and test team, and is thankful for her Yale engineering education for setting the foundation for this career.

Laura is a structures design engineer at SpaceX. She designs structural components and assemblies on the Dragon capsule, which NASA uses to fly astronauts and cargo to and from the International Space Station. She graduated from Yale in 2021 with a BS in mechanical engineering, and was involved in the Yale Undergraduate Aerospace Association, Taps at Yale, and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. At Yale, she discovered her passion for product design in the course "Making It," which led her to seek out a position that focuses on the intersection of design and engineering first principles. She is now balancing her career with post-grad life in Hermosa Beach, California, where she enjoys beach volleyball, surfing, and exploring the city on weekends.
