Careers, Life, and Yale Thursday Show: Yale Then & Now: Women’s Athletics

Clare Boone is a junior on the Yale women's lacrosse team from Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. Originally majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, she took a gap year during the 2020-2021 school year, which inspired her to switch her major to History. Over her gap year, she explored her interests in organizing and policy as an intern at the ACLU of Louisiana, where she worked mostly on civil rights and immigration issues. She plans to continue pursuing these passions after graduation. 

Jennifer E. Brevorka is an international lawyer with a civil and criminal practice in Toronto, Ontario. She obtained a law degree from Duke Law and practiced in Texas for a decade before moving to Canada. Jenny loved attending Yale College where she worked as a Master's (Head of College) Aid and she rowed on the Yale Women's Crew Team, serving as its captain during her senior year. An upside of the pandemic is that Jenny reconnected with her Class of 1998 friends via Zoom and they now remain in frequent touch about all things Yale.

Coco Chai is a junior in Trumbull College studying Economics and Global Affairs. Originally from Beijing, China, she is passionate about international development, sustainability, and gender equity. As a core member of the Yale Women's Golf Team, she's played in the starting line-up of all events since the 2018-2019 academic year and has helped Yale claim two tournament titles this season. Coco is a two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar. 

Victoria M. “Vicky” Chun was appointed Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics at Yale University by President Peter Salovey on February 1, 2018 and began her tenure with the Bulldogs on July 1. A true trailblazer in collegiate sports, Chun is the first woman and first Asian American to serve in this role at Yale University, with oversight of 35 varsity teams, over 50 club and intramural sports, as well as the portfolio of athletic facilities enjoyed by the Yale community.

Anne F. Keating is an executive recruiter who specializes in senior-level search assignments, with particular expertise in the financial services industry. Anne graduated from Yale with a BA degree in philosophy and received an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. At Yale, Anne earned nine varsity letters in field hockey (captain), basketball, and lacrosse. She was a member of the U.S. Field Hockey Team and Olympic Training Squad, and the U.S. Lacrosse Team. She is the first recipient of Yale’s Nellie P. Elliot Award given to the top woman athlete.  Anne is also a 2007 recipient of Yale’s George H. W. Bush Lifetime of Leadership Award. 

Patricia Melton, originally a Field Hockey and Lacrosse recruit, became a Track and Field walk on at Yale. She went on to earn six Ivy individual championships and two Most Outstanding Athlete titles in her last two years at undergraduate. Elected Captain of the team, Melton earned All-American status and received the highest athletic honor in her Yale undergraduate class, The Nellie Elliott Award in 1982. Her 400 meter hurdles record still stands. Melton went on to compete at the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials, where she became a finalist in the 800 meters. In 2007, she received the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s 2007 Silver Anniversary Award, which recognizes former student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in their chosen field.  In 2013, she became the first African-American woman to be awarded Yale University’s George H. W. Bush Award.
