Join us for a Cincinnati Yale Club reception at the Freedom Center, followed by a talk by Yale's own David Blight. Professor Blight will discuss his report on Yale and Slavery, and its timely lessons.
We begin the evening with a Cincinnati Yale Club-exclusive happy hour at 5:30, followed by a public reception at 6:00, and then Professor Blight's lecture and discussion at 7:00.
There is no cost for Cincinnati Yalies and their guests. RSVP to Jeff Schoenberger. You must RSVP to be included as a Cincinnati Yale Club attendee.
Drawing excerpts from his latest book, Yale and Slavery: A History, Professor Blight examines the history, legacies, and remembrances of slavery in America, including how pillars of American higher education, even in New England, emerged over time intertwined with the national and international history of racial slavery. Along the way, Professor Blight also addresses the current crisis of trust in universities as ownership and censorship of history threaten the integrity of fact and the inclusion of diverse voices.
