Covering COVID-19: Lessons Learned and the Path Forward for Journalism

Join us for this virtual panel program featuring Yale journalists who will discuss their experiences reporting on stories and working in journalism during the current coronavirus pandemic. This event will consider how travel restrictions, lockdowns, and work-from-home mandates have shaped reporting practices; how newsrooms have been adapting to the pandemic; how reporters have worked to tell coronavirus-related stories from the angle of their specific beat; and how this pandemic will shape the future of journalism going forward.

Madison Alworth '15

Alworth is a reporter at WTSP, the CBS affiliate in Tampa, Florida. As a general assignment reporter, she covers breaking news, investigative stories, and enterprise reports for the 11 p.m. broadcast.

Gabriella Borter '18

Borter is a U.S. news correspondent for Reuters in New York. She began her career as an intern for Reuters’ U.S. General News team and was promoted to staff correspondent in 2019. She is currently on an investigative team covering U.S. hospitals and healthcare workers during the pandemic.

Ben Brody '10

Brody is a tech lobbying reporter at Bloomberg News in Washington, D.C., specializing in privacy, antitrust, and controversial content.

Ishaan Tharoor '06

Tharoor is a columnist on the Washington Post’s foreign desk, where he pens Today’s WorldView, a daily column and newsletter on international affairs read by hundreds of thousands of readers each day.

Chloe Tsang '17

Tsang is the Co-Chair of the Yale Alumni Journalism Association and a current MSc candidate in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford. Prior to pursuing her master’s degree, she worked at NBC News for two years.
