Join the Yale Alumni Health Network for an interactive tutorial learning the essentials of Chinese painting. Dr. Cindy Meng Hou ‘96 will serve as the moderator of a special presentation on Chinese painting by none other than her mother, Diana Meng, who teaches Chinese painting and calligraphy. Mrs. Meng will demonstrate the essentials of Chinese calligraphy, basic painting techniques and brush patterns. Relax and join us, and bring a paintbrush and paper if you wish to practice these techniques!

Diana Meng, whose Chinese name is Hou Siao Ching, was born in Mainland China and grew up in Taiwan. She received her BA from the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan in 1969 and her MA from West Virginia University in 1971. Meng and her husband raised their two children, Raymond and Cindy, in Pennsylvania. Meng worked for Blue Cross until retiring in 1992. In 2004, she began teaching Chinese painting and calligraphy at the Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute (CCAI) in Pennsylvania, as well as teaching private lessons.

Dr. Cindy Hou ‘96 is an infectious diseases physician and serves as the Infection Control Officer with Jefferson Health New Jersey and Jefferson Medical Group. She is the physician champion for the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative and an advisory board member of the Sepsis Alliance.  Dr. Hou is fellowed by the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American College of Physicians, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
