This informative and interactive event spotlights four of the 2020 YAA Board of Governors Excellence Awards winners, who were recognized for their outstanding diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Their response to the movement toward racial equality and social justice serve as models of best practices, which can help guide fellow alumni toward their own meaningful efforts.
After a brief introduction, the attendees will move into breakout rooms with one of the four award winners to prompt conversation. Representatives from Mixed Company of Yale Alumni, Yale Alumni Association of the Northwest, Yale Black Alumni Association, and YaleWomen Houston chapter will share their experiences and insights with attendees in breakout sessions and answer questions live.
A brief 5- to 10-minute video prepared by each of the award winners is available for viewing as preparation for the conversations. In these videos they share their planning, purpose, and the path forward.
When you register for the event you will have the opportunity to pre-select whichever breakout room you would like to join. (Note: For those who have updated Zoom to the latest version, you will be able to use the roaming breakout feature in Zoom once the breakout rooms open and self-select whichever room you would like to join, otherwise you will be assigned to a breakout room.)
