YAA Pep Rally | DJ Dance Party with DJs Richie Rich, MD, Jesse, and Karl

Rich was an African and Afro Am history major with a focus on Caribbean history.  He was involved with the Caribbean Club and BSAY, and became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, inc. He returned to New Haven for Medical School at Yale Med where he DJ'd at the GPSCY (now named Gryphon's Pub) almost every week for 4 years. Despite all the DJ'ing, Rich matched in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and has since kept up his DJ'ing strictly for fun when time permitted. He has recently been elected as a member at large of the AYAM and loves to visit New Haven whenever he can.

Rich has spent most of his medical career working for underserved pediatric and adult populations in East Harlem, the South Bronx, and Houston where he currently resides. He recently left Baylor College of Medicine where he was a Medical Director for 10 years to work at a start-up company called Aledade which supports independent primary care practices in their mission to do Value-Based Care as part of Accountable Care Organizations. Rich is a Regional Medical Director for Texas and California ACOs.

Marco Davis was in JE College, and a History and Latin American Studies major. His black Jeep Cherokee was often spotted around campus outside different residential colleges, the Af-Am House, La Casa, etc., carrying the DJ equipment from party to party! He was active in student organizations, joining and at different times leading MEChA and BSAY. He also became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He has stayed involved since college, having served on the board of Dwight Hall, as an AYA delegate, and helping to launch the Yale Latino Alumni Association. Most recently, he served on the Yale Alumni Task Force on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

When he’s not doing something Yale related, he leads the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), a national nonprofit organization in Washington, DC dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders as its President and CEO. CHCI provides public service and policy experiences to outstanding Latino/a/x students and young professionals, supports a network of more than 4,000 alumni, and also convenes Members of Congress, other public officials, corporate executives, nonprofit advocates, and thought leaders to discuss issues facing the nation and the Hispanic community.

He’s been working in the nonprofit sector most of his career, except for a six-year detour into federal government that included serving as Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics in the Obama Administration.

Since 2015, Jesse has been a senior writer for ESPN's The Undefeated, a platform for exploring the intersections of race, sports and culture. He is currently writing the autobiography of former Georgetown basketball coach John Thompson, I Came As A Shadow, to be published in December  by Henry Holt.

Karl is Strategic Partner at Ohio River South, a Southeastern public affairs and civic engagement firm based in Atlanta.
