Join us to meet fully trained service dog, Heidi, who joined the Yale Police Department in September of 2020. Heidi was trained by Puppies Behind Bars located in New York and is the first service dog at an Ivy League public safety police department. She and her handler, Officer Rich Simons, have been seen out and about on campus all semester. She specializes in providing companionship and support to the Yale and New Haven communities and looks to bring joy wherever she can. Together with Officer Simons, Heidi has visited almost 100 people, departments, and local businesses.
