It is with heavy hearts that we let you know that reunions as planned have been canceled for this May due to continuing concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In all decisions being made at this time, the safety and welfare of our alumni and guests are of our utmost concern.
We had hoped the pandemic would abate and allow us to hold reunions as scheduled. The risks and unpredictability inherent in the current outlook, however, are too great to move forward. While this news is unfortunate, we hope it also provides a level of certainty in otherwise uncertain times.
We are actively seeking alternatives so that the classes ending in 0 and 5 and the senior reunion will have an opportunity to celebrate. In the meantime, below are a few FAQs to address questions you may have:

The COVID-19 outbreak is a rapidly evolving situation, and Yale has been actively working to accommodate the most pressing needs of its community, first and foremost students as well as faculty and staff on campus. Not knowing the full arc of the pandemic, the university moved first to cancel or postpone all on-campus events through April. As discussions evolved, it became clear to us that it would be irresponsible to plan for a large group gathering as soon as this spring and that we need to provide certainty to alumni planning to return for reunions in May.
We want to and intend to celebrate with you as soon as it is safe and feasible. We are currently analyzing a variety of options to do so, and once a decision has been reached, you will be contacted by your class leaders.
Yes. While some New Haven hotels may close for the short term and many flights have been canceled, we encourage you to reach out to your respective hotel, airline, or other travel vendor to cancel. Yale is not responsible for any outstanding reservations.

If you are able and want to contribute, please consider making a gift to the President’s Emergency Fund for Students, which will assist students across all of Yale’s schools – Yale College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and Yale’s 12 professional schools – as they deal with these unexpected circumstances. You can also contribute to Safety Net, which provides emergency funding for Yale College students on financial aid.
