Yale in Hollywood 2.27.23

You're invited to our pre-Oscar virtual conversation with acclaimed Yale alumnus conductor John Mauceri ’67, ’70 MPhil, consultant on the film TÁR, nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture. Mauceri served as Musical Advisor on TÁR, working closely with writer director Todd Field to help ensure authentic portrayals of conductor life, conversations, and characters. The film's lead fictional conductor Lydia Tár, played by Cate Blanchett, directly quotes Mauceri's words and draws from his extensive experience. Mauceri led the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for 16 seasons, was a longtime colleague of Leonard Bernstein, and has conducted concerts, operas, and musicals around the world. In this virtual discussion, he will share how his experiences helped bring this character and world to life in the film. Moderated by red carpet host Yalie Albert Lawrence, our Yale in Hollywood - Unscripted Chair.
