Join us for our virtual in-conversation with Yalie Matthew Fogel ’02, writer on The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Matt will discuss his path from Yale to Hollywood, writing for animation, and adapting the Mario games to film. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the #1 movie of 2023 to date, the top movie based on a video game, and top worldwide opening for an animated film.
Matt Fogel is a filmmaker and songwriter. His screenwriting credits include The Lego Movie 2, Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Miramax's upcoming Silent Retreat. His original, Ovation-Award-winning musical "Hey, Morgan!" was co-written with Isaac Laskin and directed by Matt Shakman at The Black Dahlia Theater. In his spare time, he likes to meditate, make up songs about his dog, and write pithy bios of himself in the third person. Panel will be moderated by Adam Chanzit ’03, Yale in Hollywood's Film/TV Chair.
