Biography
At the Commonwealth Secretariat, the inter-governmental organization for 53 member states, Abhik is responsible for fostering innovation and digital transformation, and developing partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations, civil society institutions and the private sector in order to accelerate sustainable development in Commonwealth countries all over the world.
Previously, as Head of Policy and Research he provided policy advice and assisted governments in enhancing socio-economic and youth development in Commonwealth countries. Abhik is the lead author of the Global Youth Development Index and Report 2016, a ground-breaking study on the state of young people in the world that the United Nations called an “admirable and timely contribution to fill a critical gap in the global development landscape.” He has been a managing editor at The Economist, an editor at Bloomberg and a newspaper editor in India. His analysis and commentary have been featured in The Economist, BBC, Guardian, The Times, The Asian Age and other publications and journals. He is a World Fellow at Yale University and a Policy Fellow at the University of Cambridge.
