Biography

An award-winning entrepreneur, Devrim Celal has had a career spanning leadership roles in technology, finance and energy. He is CEO of the British energy technology company Upside Energy, which he has led from the start-up phase through its current level of dynamic growth. Prior to Upside, he worked at the global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney, where he held senior roles in strategy development; at the global services company Sapient, where he established European operations; and at Lansdowne Corporate Finance, where he was a partner.

Celal earned a Bachelor of Science Honours degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury; a License d’Informatique from the University of Paris XI; and his MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Yale School of Management. As a volunteer for Yale, he has served as an Alumni Schools Committee Director, a vice president and YAA Delegate from the Yale Club of Turkey, a site coordinator for the Yale Day of Service, and head of the School of Management’s London Chapter.

Celal is an avid athlete, having been a regular competitor in various endurance events. He enjoys running to promote awareness of, and to raise funds for, charities that support multiple sclerosis research and treatment. This is his first year on the YAA Board of Governors.
