Biography

George AbdelnourGeorge Abdelnour is Chair of the Department of English and Translation and former Director of the Center for Applied Research in Education (CARE) at Notre Dame University—Louaize, Lebanon. In addition to academic administration, he has served as member of the University’s executive steering committee for institutional accreditation by the New England Commission for Higher Education (NECHE). He has been an active member in higher education reform efforts in Lebanon and the Middle East through European ERASMUS+ program, building expertise in the field of quality assurance in Europe and the Arab world. He is the former recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for study in Oaxaca, Mexico (2006), and was a Fulbright scholar in Lebanon from 2008-2010 before settling in Beirut. He is a graduate of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, from where he holds a B.A. and Ph.D. in Literature. A native of Connecticut, he has lived in Venezuela and Lebanon, and has traveled widely throughout the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America.
