Biography

Kennetha Gaines's connection to Yale began in 2017 when she entered the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the Yale School of Nursing. During her time on campus, she often brought her daughter to Yale to experience the community, never imagining that years later her daughter would attend Yale as an undergraduate. Gaines graduated from the Yale School of Nursing in 2020 and completed her Executive MBA at the Yale School of Management in 2021 as a Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Healthcare Leadership.

Gaines’s commitment to Yale has continued through alumni leadership and service across multiple communities. She has served with the Yale School of Nursing Alumni Association, participated as a YAA Delegate representing the School of Nursing, and has conducted undergraduate applicant interviews through the Alumni Schools Committee. She has also remained engaged with the Yale Black Alumni Association and Yale Club of Los Angeles events, reflecting her interest in building stronger connections across Yale’s broader alumni community. She has also served on the Yale SOM Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship National Advisory Committee.

Today, Gaines remains deeply committed to Yale as an alumna and as the parent of a current Yale undergraduate in the Class of 2027.
