Biography

Sandra Kuzmich began her Yale re-engagement as a judge for the Yale and Bulldog Invitationals sponsored by the Yale Mock Trial Association. These events inspired her to join the board of the Graduate Student Alumni Association (GSAA), where she focused on informing graduate students about rewarding, nontraditional careers that employ their graduate education. These efforts included multiple panelist/moderator participations in the “Where Do I Go from Yale” program; the presentation “STEM PhD Pathways: Let's Talk Careers in Intellectual Property” through the Office of Career Strategy; and one-on-one student engagement Cross Campus.

For three years, Kuzmich co-chaired the GSAAB Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee, which involved connecting alumni with graduate students through various collaborations. Throughout her time on the GSAA board she participated in and promoted its Peer Mentoring Sessions directed to GSAS alumni.

Kuzmich began her professional career in the sciences, later pivoting to the legal profession. She is managing partner of an intellectual-property law firm, where in addition to practicing law she is responsible for the daily operations of the firm’s business and the development of the next generation of the firm’s attorneys. As the first in her family to attend college and graduate school, she greatly appreciates how the Yale experience has enriched her life, affording her the skills and confidence to flourish both personally and professionally.
