Biography
Soledad Hurst attributes her career trajectory and personal growth to the transformative experiences she had at Yale Law School. Hurst grew up in a mixed-race family in a small, blue-collar town in Oregon, where 20% of her graduating high school class went to college. Given her exposure to various economic situations, public and private education, as well as living domestically and abroad, Hurst appreciates what Yale means for her personally as well as for the world at large, as an institution that celebrates excellence with humanity and humility. Being a graduate, and now having children at Yale, has made the university a top priority for her.
Hurst served as a YAA At-Large Delegate, attending each year’s Assembly during her 2023–2026 term. She is a member of the Yale Parents’ Leadership Council and will serve as its chair starting in 2027. In addition, she has served on the Yale Law School reunion committee for her class multiple times over the past 30 years, and currently sits on the Yale Law Fund Board. She has hosted events for Yale in her hometown and elsewhere, and has had the great fortune to serve on and often lead numerous nonprofit and for-profit boards over her career.
Hurst’s background in law and finance, and her commitment to inclusiveness, transparency and integrity continue to be the backbone of her leadership. She considers it an honor to serve on the Board of Governors, and intends to employ her abilities and strong work ethic while on the Board.
