Biography
Stefano Caselli is Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Bocconi University whereas is a Full Professor of Banking and Finance at Department of Finance and member of the board of SDA Bocconi School of Management. He’s also a member of the Executive Board and Chairman of the QAC (Quality Assurance Committee) of CEMS – Community of European Management Schools – and Chairman for the EMEA Region of PIM – Partnership in International Management, i.e. two key academic networks of Bocconi.
His research activities focus on the relationship between banking and industrial system, facing issues both of banking credit risk management and of corporate finance and capital structure. Furthermore, he focuses his research on private equity & venture capital, as well on corporate governance of financial institutions. He is the author of numerous books and articles on the subject. His works have been published in Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance and Economia & Management, among others. He acts at columnist for “L’Economia del Corriere Della Sera” and for “Financial News” at Dow Jones. He’s a member of several committees and advisory boards, such as the Advisory Board of Confindustria (2018-2021); the Task Force of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Government to develop relationships between Italy and Asia (2018-2019).
He conducted numerous research, training and consulting projects both with the most important financial institutions at European level and corporations for valuation and corporate governance issues. He is an expert guest speaker at international conferences. He’s also the founder and the director of the “Start-up Day” platform for Bocconi since 2015, devoted to facilitate the start-up process for Bocconi students and alumni.
He has got a long experience as independent director in several boards of corporations and financial institutions as well as advisor of investment committees (among them, at present: SIAS S.p.A., Generali Real Estate SGR S.p.A., Credito Valtellinese S.p.A., Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, Istituto Diocesano di Sostentamento del Clero della Diocesi di Milano; EPS Equita PEP SPAC S.p.A.; in the past: Manutencoop Facility Management S.p.A. and MPS Venture SGR S.p.A.). He won several times the “Bocconi Teaching Award” and the “Bocconi Research Award” in 1997, 2004 and 2011.
Stefano Caselli earned an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Genoa and a Ph.D. in Financial Markets and Institutions from the University of Siena. He is married with two kids.
