Biography

An internationalist with 14 years of experience in building networks and rethinking leadership, Valerie has problem-solved with municipal leaders in Central America, coached education entrepreneurs in the Middle East, and convened journalists, artists, environmentalists, diplomats, and venture capitalists from across 80+ countries. She has designed and implemented global leadership development programs around the world.

Currently, Valerie is Director of Programs at the Garrison Institute where she works to apply the transformative power of contemplation to today’s pressing social and environmental concerns. She is also an Assistant Professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business. Before Garrison, she directed leadership programming at the Yale School of Management. Her previous experience includes work with the Yale World Fellows, Ashoka and the Synergos Institute. For two years, Valerie served as a municipal development volunteer with the Peace Corps in El Salvador. She holds a MA in International Relations from Yale and a BA in Government from Wesleyan.
