Biography
Dr. Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey is an award-winning social entrepreneur, humanitarian, and historian. He is deeply committed to advancing pluralism, economic progress, and social change in North America and sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Adjetey’s research and writing on citizenship, race, and social movements in North America complement his commitment to various causes outside of academe. He is Director or Advisor on four boards: The Tujenge Africa Foundation—a U.S. 501(c)(3) that promotes peace- and nation-building in Burundi, where he is the co-founder and president; the Inspirit Foundation—a non-profit that leverages impact investing, media, and the arts to advance pluralism and civic engagement in Canada; founding Director of Dream Maker Ventures Diversity Fund, Canada’s first Black-led venture capital Fund; and Advisor of the Road Home, a new think tank and advocacy group for youth on the margins in Canadian society.
