Biography

During Zlatko Minev’s years at Yale, he learned a motto from the alumni community that still guides him today: "Find the way, go the way, show the way." While earning his PhD in quantum physics, he served as a member of the Yale Graduate and Professional Senate, ultimately becoming its longest-tenured active senator. He also led initiatives in science outreach, community service and professional development, organizing over 70 events and serving as a delegate to the Yale Corporation.

In 2012, while a graduate student, Minev founded Yale Open Labs, a volunteer organization promoting science outreach and career pathways. Following Open Labs' success at Yale, he developed it into a nationwide initiative, starting with expansion to the campuses of Princeton, Columbia, Penn and Harvard. His service to Yale was recognized with the Yale-Jefferson Award for Public Service.

After completing his PhD, Minev served on the board of the Yale Graduate School Alumni Association (GSAA), where he supported flagship events such as "Where Do I Go From Yale?" and representing graduate alumni to the university's "For Humanity" campaign. As his term on the GSAA board comes to an end this year, he is eager to serve as a member of the YAA Board of Governors, where he hopes to leverage his experience and skills gained through previous volunteer work at Yale.
