    • 1970 | Forum '70@50: 2020 Vision

      May 30
      1:30PM – 2:30PM
Sprague Hall | Room: Concert Hall — 470 College Street

We graduated at the end of Yale’s first year of co-education, a month after the first Earth Day, a year after the Stonewall Riots, and less than a month after May Day. The concerns of that time – environmental crisis, women’s empowerment, racial, ethnic and gender equity, and America’s global military presence – still confront us, as economic inequality continues to increase and the pace of the computer/internet revolution speeds up our lives. With Edward Landler, Llewellyn Miller and Miriam Mills as moderators, a panel of classmates will lead a discussion about our part in this fifty-year history and how we can make a difference in what we face today.

      May 30
      2:45PM – 3:45PM
Sprague Hall | Room: Concert Hall — 470 College Street

In this session Ron Chernow will describe how a formerly levelheaded biographer got mixed up with a bunch of young hipster geniuses to create the smash Broadway hit Hamilton. The musical was six years in the making and Ron will regale us with entertaining anecdotes on how his long and substantial biography got transformed into an exhilarating three-hour show. He will also relate how this former English major and aspiring novelist at Yale ended up devoting his career, with pleasure and gratitude, to the art of biography.
