graduated from Washington University Medical School and did his family practice residency at the University of Minnesota. He then taught at the University of Minnesota, University of Texas, Houston, and University of Massachusetts. Then he started a private practice in Rockport, Maine before retiring to Surry where he is trying to learn how to be a self sufficient farmer and forester.

is an award-winning architect and former CEO of two leading design firms. He is a Richard Upjohn Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council, and has published more than 200 articles on issues of innovation in the design & construction industry, as well as four books, including The Next Architect--A New Twist on the Future of Design. He has lectured widely at professional conferences and schools of architecture, including Yale and Harvard. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Boston Children’s Museum and serves as a Trustee for New England College. He currently teaches at the Advanced Management Development Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
