Yale alums will be working with the non-profit Basketball to Uplift the Youth and the Haitian community police in partnership with OAS Haiti to refurbish a community space in the neighborhood of Pacot. All Yale alums, family, and friends in Haiti are welcome to join. Please contact us for more information.

A secular, non-affiliated charity, Willing Hearts is wholly run by volunteers, apart from a handful of staff. Willing Hearts operates a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes meals island-wide, every day of the year. Beneficiaries include low income families and migrant workers in Singapore. The number of meals being cooked daily is around 11k, to over 70 locations island-wide, 365 days a year.

Volunteer with fellow Yalies at the soup kitchen, and help prepare vegetables, etc. Guests from ages five years old and up are welcome (all those up to 16 years old should be supervised by adults). Spaces are limited.

Yale Day of Service volunteers will be helping to clean up and beautify the gardens around the Sorauren Park Fieldhouse. We will be weeding, pruning, and mulching.

Families are welcome. 

If you have them, bring gardening tools including gloves. Don’t forget to bring a refillable water bottle.

Street parking is available. Best TTC access is 506 College or 505 Dundas cars, or 504 bus from Dundas St. West station, getting off at the top of Sorauren Avenue; stops on both sides.

The Yale Club of BC will be joining the Kitsilano Family Beach Cleanup together for Yale Day of Service.

Parking available in the Kitsilano Beach parking lot. Meet at the Boathouse Restaurant at 10am. Family friendly

We’ll start getting our hands dirty (literally!) at 11am. At 4pm we’ll have some drinks and snacks together. 
 
What are we going to do?
We are going to Pluk! Groenten van West, which is an organic farming project in Amsterdam.   Depending on what exactly needs to be done that day, we’ll be planting seedlings, spreading compost in the fields, weeding, sowing seeds, water seedlings, etc. 

Who can join?
Yalies and their families and friends are welcome to join. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

What should I wear and bring?
Please wear clothes and shoes that you are comfortable getting dirty. 

Please bring water and pack a lunch.

Our tree planting service project began in 2021. Join us this time to maintain the trees we have planted since 2021 and to plant more new trees. Participants should catch the 1:50pm fast ferry (30 minutes) from Central Pier 6 to arrive at 2:20pm in Mui Wo.  

Please note:
-Wear dull coloured clothes
-Wear long trousers to prevent getting scratched by vegetation
-Bring at least 1.0 L of water for drinking
-Bring a spare t shirt for change of clothes
-Participants limited to 16.  
-This volunteering activity requires good physical fitness.  Tree planting terrain is rough and we will need to help carry equipment and trees on the uphill hike.
-Children aged 10 and above are welcome to join the event provided that a responsible adult will be joining them.  Maximum 4 children in the group
-Suggested donation of HK$50 per participant to contribute to tree planting project costs.

Voices of Climate Action
(Taiwan88 songwriting and virtual exchange program)

During this half day trip to Shiding Elementary School, you will meet not only local students, but also virtual program participants from Myanmar, Bahrain and Tunisia. You will hear participants' original songs about preserving the local culture and environment.  We will close with a guided tour around Shiding Old Town.
