Right now, an average of about 500,000 people a month rely on Second Harvest for access to nutritious food. Their mission is to end hunger in our community. Volunteers, donors and supporters help provide food to families, multi-generational households, seniors and college students. They offer more than just nourishment, they are helping people in our own community feel a little more secure and find joy in the pleasure of cooking and sharing a meal with loved ones. We will distribute food at the Social Services Agency - CalWORKS in San Jose. Please arrive early. Carpooling is encouraged. Wear closed-toe shoes. Sleeveless shirts and sandals are not permitted. We have a fun and meaningful afternoon planned. We will be helping "strip" bikes (i.e., taking all the parts off a bike), sorting parts, "flattening" bikes (i.e., turning the handle bars sideways for shipping), and cleaning the warehouse. All skill-levels and ages are welcome! Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear closed-toed footwear and try to wear clothes that can get dirty.
