Biography

Cristina Gabetti ’84 Cristina is half Italian half American, with 30 years + experience in journalism, public speaking, coaching and consulting. Born in New York, raised in Turin, Italy and based in Milan, her work combines American pragmatism and Italian gusto. Motherhood changed her perspective of what it means to be a responsible, global citizen. Researching the impact of our lifestyles on society and the environment, she decided to narrow the gap between what we know and how we live. Incorporating sustainable practices in her daily life became a creative journey. Sharing this experience was a natural consequence. The success of her first book Tentativi di Eco Condotta (Rizzoli) in 2008, led to a weekly segment about sustainable development on the satirical news program Striscia La Notizia, the most popular long-running TV show in Italy. This year, the eleventh season, is focused on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Cristina has three more published books in Italy. A Passo Leggero (Bompiani) features an in-depth analysis of the Mirror Mechanism with Professor Giacomo Rizzolatti, the neuroscientist who discovered it. Tondo come il Mondo (Librì Progetti Educativi), for schoolchildren, is in its 10th edition. When Cristina was selected by Ashoka, the global network of social entrepreneurs, to facilitate storytelling workshops for changemakers in Italy and Greece, she embarked on a new fulfilling journey. She has adapted the workshop for other nonprofit organizations and corporations, in English and Italian. A very active promoter of future proof development, in 2019 Cristina was Honorary Host of the global food summit Seeds&Chips in Milan, Italy and moderated at the UN’s Trade for Sustainable Development Forum in Geneva. Holistic by nature, Cristina’s mission is to scale positive impact, aware that the journey starts within. She is VP of the Yale Club of Italy.
